My wife and I have been attending Grace Revolution Church in Dallas, Texas, since January 2014. It has been truly a year of greater glory in every area of our lives—our marriage, our finances, our career, and our physical health. One of the demonstrations of His amazing love occurred last December.
One Saturday night while preparing for bed, I noticed my left testicle was enlarged and hard. Suspecting that something was wrong. I made an appointment to see my family doctor on Monday morning. When I was at church that Sunday, worry and fear crept into my heart, as I was worried about what could be causing those symptoms. However, the Lord encouraged me through Pastor Prince’s message during the service and Pastor Keith also prayed over me with anointing oil.
On Monday, December 15, when my wife accompanied me to the doctor, we were in a state of peace as we rested in our Father’s love. After the ultrasound scan, my doctor diagnosed my condition as testicular cancer. Even though my doctor gave us a bad report, we chose to cling on to our Lord. Because my wife and I believed that our Father would guide us in the decisions ahead, we sensed an overwhelming peace in the midst of the storm. We felt so at rest in the finished work of our Lord Jesus and were filled with an unexplainable joy. We believed that “just as Jesus is, so am I in this world.”
The doctor wanted to move forward with surgery on Thursday to remove the mass in the left testicle. Thereafter, a CT scan would be done on Friday to ascertain if further treatment was required. We felt very restful about moving forward with the surgery and scheduled for the procedures as proposed.
On Thursday, the surgery went very well. However, the doctor was concerned that the cancer may have spread to other parts of the body, as the cancer tumor was composed of different types of cancer cells and was very large. Despite my doctor’s prognosis, my wife and I knew that I was healed because of our Lord Jesus’ finished work, and we continued to assert and reiterate my righteousness in Him as we partook of the Holy Communion daily.
On Friday morning, I went for the CT scan as scheduled. The doctors were astounded to find that the rest of my body was completely cancer-free and extremely healthy. In his experience, he was almost certain that the cancer would have spread to the surrounding areas. He had even scheduled an appointment for me to see an oncologist but canceled it when he realized it wasn’t necessary. At this point, my wife and I knew instantly that our heavenly Father had protected me and kept the cancer from spreading to other parts of my body.
Over the next few weeks, I had medical reviews with my doctor to monitor my condition. At each review, my blood tests showed a decline in the cancer markers. At the final review, my blood test was back to normal. I recovered very quickly from the surgery and was able to resume my training as a professional baseball player.
I believe that our heavenly Father turned our setback into a divine setup for His miracle. Now, I’m able to share my glorious testimony with people around me. Through this whole experience, my wife and I have learned to remain at rest because we know that the Father sees us righteous through His Son, Jesus Christ, and we are completely loved by Him. Glory to God!
